The Owl Clan is a Goliath cultural comprised of fifty members. The clan is recognizable by the intricate brown and green ceremonial tattoos possessed by all members. All members of the clan are interrelated, either through blood or through the Ceremony of Joining. The Owl Clan is also the youngest of the Goliath clans, but has had little to no trouble gaining prestige in the community.
The clan was founded by the Goliath shaman Kurvoch (also known as Kurvoch the Wise), great grandfather of the barbarian Lothar, and was given the sobriquet “Owl Clan” by a group of neighboring Dwarves who respected Kurvoch for his astute wisdom and keen hunting abilities. Kurvoch himself was able to found the clan after defending the Council of Elders from an attack by rampaging trolls. The victory marked the first time in which a Goliath had engaged in guerrilla and the use of spies, at the behest of Kurvoch himself. The Council of Elders bequeathed unto Kurvoch the Rite of Incorporation allowing him to found his own clan, an honor that had not been bestowed for over five hundred years.
